Syrupy smooth body with a hint of nutmeg and very refined finish. From the volcanic earth of Koloa on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the Kauai Estate Reserve is grown on some of the oldest coffee trees standing in the Americas. They have 3,400 acres under cultivation on the southwest side of the island. This farm represents the largest of all coffee farms on the Hawaiian Islands. Kauai Coffee is one of the few truly American grown and processed coffees and it is 100% certified by the State of Hawaii's Department of Agriculture for both grade and origin. Each of their coffees are painstakingly cared for and prepared, which yields almost unparalleled consistency in the cup from crop to crop. No pesticides are used on the farm. 80 percent of the estate is devoted to land conservation and their environmentally enlightened agricultural practices include drip irrigation and mulching of the by-products of their processing (specifically cherry and pruning mulch).
Bold and luxurious, this coffee combines the dense body that is found in the finest Indonesian coffees with the upfront liveliness of coffees from the Americas. It yields a uniquely complex cup with hints of fruit and a sweet chocolate-y smooth finish.
Sweet caramel, chocolate, spice and hints of dried fruit—with spectacular crema and a long smooth finish. The bean mix is naturally very low in acidity and extraordinarily high in body. When the otherwise subtle and delicate flavors of these coffees are concentrated through the high pressure extraction of the La Marzocco espresso machine, the qualities are magnified to a sublime level. This blend is proprietary and includes aged and conditioned coffees from Asia and South America.
