Peter is a resident of Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard and the author of thirteen books of photography and prose. His most recent work, Reggae Scrapbook, was released last year. Peter's work is available online at petersimon.com.
This month, he opened a gallery on Main Street in Vineyard Haven, where he exhibits and sells his prints, calendars and music compilations. The gallery also features jewelry by Ronni Simon, Peter's wife.
These are his favorite July activities on Martha's Vineyard:
Originally from New York, Peter says, "I grew up a Mets fan." Like many who live in this part of the country, he hates the Yankees.
"Fitting in a round of golf, late in the day, when the hordes of people are gone and the shadows are beautiful," Peter says.
And enjoying the smell of freshly cut grass.
Family portraits at Philbin Beach an hour before sunset. Volleyball at Lucy Vincent.
"Reacquainting myself with summer friends that were gone all winter."
Morgan Heritage, Israel Vibration, Burning Spear, Stephen Marley.
"Anywhere they grow."
Peter's favorite Island restaurant, featuring a beautiful view of the sunset.
Peter says, "I do it all year anyway, but I use summer as an excuse to do it all the time."
"The nude part. Later in July, when the water gets warmer," Peter says.
