Chuck, 41, is an architect with Sullivan O’Connor Architects in Oak Bluffs (“basically the hub the Island”), where he lives with wife Kira. He attended the University of Massachusetts and received a BArch from Boston Architectural College. Chuck has lived on the Vineyard for 15 years. His portfolio includes the interior of Beetlebung Coffee House.
“March is tough,” Chuck says, because the weather begins warming up, the first flowers appear—and then the cold returns.
Chuck says: “Season’s, The Ritz, Sharky’s, Park Corner Bistro and, especially, the Ale House—which is too busy April through September.”
Chuck says: “I can’t pass the Coffee House without stopping in for a latte—best on the Island.”
The off-season is a great time to get things done—especially after 5 pm when the phone stops ringing. Besides, “it’s too nice in the summer” to do as much work as I should, Chuck says.
Chuck lives within walking distance of the East Chop Beach.
Chuck plays in the adult intermediate intramural league on the Island between October and March (the rink closes for almost 4 months at the end of March.) “It’s fun to get out there and good exercise. But mostly we try not to hurt each other,” Chuck says.
Fire up wood stove, grill some fresh fish and stay in.
A few times each winter, Chuck and Kira take off for a long weekend in Vermont—especially Stowe.
